Wednesday 28th September. It was a dark, rainy evening. The bookstore was warm and welcoming to the book-club members. The atmosphere was charged. Full of anticipation of a good discussion about BLOOD OF FLOWERS by Anita Amirrezvani, along with a good coffee. It was a lively evening. Perfect considering the weather outside. Thanks to all who attended!
Our next evening is 26th OCTOBER @ 7.30 in the bookstore – we are reading UNRAVELLING OLIVER by Liz Nugent. Drop by and enjoy! All welcome.
BOOKCLUB, Wednesday 28th September @ 7.30pm – our book this month is the fascinating ‘The Blood of Flowers’ by Anita Amirrezvani, which gives us great insight into the completely different culture of seventeenth century Iran. Most particularly on the harsh realities of survival.
The opening chapter brings us to the scene of a gruesome murder where our hero is assisting the local police officer. He notices that the murderer has followed all the best principles of eliminating evidence – as described in the text book he wrote several years ago….
A word of warning -the beginning of the book is very gritty and ‘in your face’ but don’t let that put you off
